Book Online NowExplore beautiful Sitka—the only community in Southeast Alaska that faces the open ocean waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Visit sites that highlight the community’s rich culture, history, and biodiversity. Embark for the winding narrows north of town while searching for bald eagles, sea otters, bears, whales, and other wildlife.
Navigate the remote west coast of Chichagof Island in the West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness—a stretch of Southeast Alaska that few travelers have a chance to experience. The pristine coastline is adorned by miles of stunning cliffs, narrow passages, and towering rainforest. The vessel’s high-speed Zodiac and kayaks provide an opportunity for in-depth exploration of the region.
Explore the scenic boardwalk “road” of Pelican, Alaska during a port call to this small community of less than 100 year-round residents in Lisianski Inlet. As you walk the charming town, you’ll have a chance to photograph the picturesque harbor and browse unique, local shops. You may also choose to experience Southeast Alaska’s famous Rose’s Bar and Grill, a watering hole that has provided the setting for many colorful, local tales. Pelican is situated on the northwest coast of Chichagof Island. Keep your eyes peeled as you navigate near shore–brown bears are prevalent in the region.
Venture into Dundas Bay, located near Cross Sound and within the boundaries of Glacier Bay National Park. In this secluded area, you’ll experience remarkable solitude as you paddle a shallow water coastline inaccessible to larger craft.
Witness the awe-inspiring beauty of Glacier Bay National Park. Highlights include South Marble Island—a nesting area for puffins, myriad other birds, and Steller sea lion haul-out; Gloomy Knob, a dramatic rocky outcropping known to be excellent mountain goat habitat; and the mighty Margerie glacier, which has been known for spectacular displays of calving.
Savor the serenity of raw wilderness on an unscripted morning and afternoon of Southeast Alaska discovery. The countless options are dictated by the day’s unique circumstances. Opportunities may include a coastline kayak paddle, up-close whale encounters, or a hike through an alluring old-growth forest. We may do a beach landing on an unspoiled shoreline to explore a tidal flat or track along with a foraging bear from the safety of our expedition skiff. Regardless of the activity, you’ll experience the magic of the archipelago’s many remote coves, bays, and inlets. *Depending on permit availability we may also continue exploration within Glacier Bay National Park.
