Group of Hikers on Rainforest Trail

Staff Spotlight: Meet Noah!

After five years in Southeast Alaska, much of that working aboard ships for a large cruise line, Reservations Specialist Noah Rogers has found a home in Sitka and at Alaskan Dream Cruises, Alaska’s premier, small-ship adventure line. A New Hampshire native and outdoor enthusiast, Noah joined the company in July 2019.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job?

Noah: Giving guests a unique and up-close experience of Southeast Alaska. I moved here five years ago, working in different variations of the tourism industry. I think Alaska is not only an exceptional state, it is one of the most unparalleled and untouched parts of the world. From my experience working in other parts of the industry, I think Alaskan Dream Cruises offers the best perspective and experience on what the communities of Southeast Alaska are really like. ADC just doesn’t offer the best Alaskan cruises: We offer a wonderful vacation experience, period.

Q: What is a surprising thing that others may not know about working here?

Noah: A nice thing about living in Sitka is that everything is very close by. Nothing is more than a 15-minute drive away. It might seem small to some but being a five-minute drive from work is something I never take for granted. It’s nice to be able to have such a short commute back and forth to work; I can use that extra time to be doing other things I love to do.

Q: What are three words you’d use to describe an ADC cruise?

Noah: Genuine. Unique. Respectful.

 Q: If you weren’t working here, you’d be…?

Noah: A political journalist or analyst trying to understand political data of any sort, but particularly polling data. Why people feel the way they do about certain policies or candidates, and interpreting what that means for the U.S. domestically and internationally, is something that interests me.

Q: When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?

Noah: I enjoy spending time with my family. My parents moved to Sitka a year after I moved to Juneau, and after ending our time working aboard cruise ships, my wife and I decided to stay in Sitka permanently. I also enjoy hiking and fishing (primarily halibut and crab, but I’m not opposed to salmon!), going to the gym, long distance running, and staying up to date on current events.

Q: What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book? Favorite song?

Noah: I really enjoy comedies, particularly Judd Apatow productions like Anchorman, Superbad, and The Big Sick. I enjoy most everything in terms of music, but I’ve been listening to a lot of Dire Straits and ‘80s rock lately. I recently read a book about the fishing industry in Southeast Alaska and how the industry has shaped Southeast historically, culturally, and environmentally.
